History of SEV Foundation:

SEV Foundation was founded by Sr. Jackie Atabong a member of the congregation of the Sisters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Cameroon. The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Therese, was founded in 1963 to serve the needs of the church, raise the dignity of women and to attend the needs of marginalized people in the society. The Sisters of St. Therese serve the church and society through education, health care and socio-pastoral works. The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Therese is committed to social justice expressed in their services to under privilege persons. They work extensively with prisoners and their families offering them second chances, as well as emotional support. The Sisters also work with women and children in poor areas, providing health care, education as well as attending to their spiritual needs. As the Congregation of the Sisters of St Therese is growing and spreading internationally, she looks to extend her services globally. SEV Foundation is founded to extend the activities of the Sisters of St. Therese to the global arena. SEV seeks out and serves the neediest and marginalized persons in the USA, Africa, and beyond. Though founded in 2018, SEV is built on a backdrop of seasoned experiences and successes of ground breaking initiatives of working with crime prone and marginalized groups. With great success in propagating prison reform initiatives in Africa and beyond, and in advocating restorative justice, justice that looks beyond punishment, the sisters have succeeded in many ways to bring about victim offender reconciliation. Their individualized, person oriented, holistic approach to re-integration has an over 90% success rate in reducing recidivism and in facilitating the smooth re-entry into society of ex-offenders who go through their program successfully. With over a decade of experience in working with local women, initiating microfinance groups that gets women out of the web of poverty, SEV looks forward to spreading such initiatives to other parts of the world. Empowering the woman and the girl child in areas where the education girls is still looked upon as unnecessary is a prime concern for SEV Foundation. SEV seeks to join hands with interested parties to make our world a better place and offer equal opportunities to all.
